‘Tis the season! If ever a season was made for drinking, it is these festive days that fall between Thanksgiving and New Year, the time of year when there seems to be a party around every corner just waiting to way lay all your good intentions. You’re not alone. You aren’t only one on worried that you’ll awake on New Year’s Day with an aching head, defeated spirit and a huge sense of relief that the holidays are over.
How do you plan to avoid that? What tricks do you have up your sleeve that are going to get you through the holidays in a state of sober jubilation?
Here’s a tip you’ve probably already thought of: The NA (Non-Alcoholic) Sparkly, Christmas-y, Fool-Everybody-Into-Thinking-You’re-Drinking Drink. This is pretty easy to do if you are hosting a party at your own home-and a good reminder to offer fun NA drinks at your parties. And, if you’re at a bar, it’s pretty simple to convince the bartender to mix up a virgin anything. But what do you do if you’re at a private party and all you see for miles and miles is oceans of alcohol? Carry a gallon of sparkling water and a jar of maraschino cherries in sack slung over your shoulder like a certain jolly old elf?

Black Currant Cider Sparklers (Picture Above)
- 1/4 cup black-currant juice
- 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 1/2 cups chilled sparkling cider
- Lemon peels, for garnish
Combine black-currant juice with lemon juice. Add sparkling cider. Divide between 2 glasses, and garnish each with a lemon peel.
